BREATH[e] was originally created in a series of three workshops by Steve Lucas, Jane Miller and John Delacourt. These workshops were made possible through the generous support of DNA Theatre. A workshop production of BREATH[e] took place at the Theatre Centre in November of 1999. Previous credits include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Andy Jones’ Still Alive, Theatre Columbus’ The Attic, The Pearls, and Three Fine Girls, and two seasons with Queen of Puddings. Seán has toured throughout North America, and to Lyon, France and all told worked on too many productions to count. Naomi Campbell (producer) Recent productions include Bye Mike! A Political Cabaret (made the Premier resign), White Mice (Mammalian Diving Reflex, Dora Award for Set Design, national tour), The Doll House (DVxT Theatre Company) New France, The British and The Mackenzie/ Papineau Rebellion for VideoCabaret and other award winning productions such as Theatre Smith-Gilmour’s Chekhov’s Shorts and Pochsy Productions’ Hello, Hello. Upcoming, a remount of Boxhead at Theatre Passe Muraille and numerous play development workshops with Nightswimming. Steve GordonMarsh (soundscape) has provided the sounds for VELO/CITY (Parallel Exit), BLOODSPURT (DNA Theatre) and Sleepy Jean (lean mad sam) among others. Upcoming projects include Before I Forget (Crossed Perspectives) and ...quiver... (Allison Rees-Cummings) both at the Theatre Centre. Steve next performs with the Canadian Electronic Ensemble at The Music Gallery, May 23 - 25. The two Steves will be breaking conventions again next season on GordonMarsh’s new show f u s I o n. Steve Lucas (director, designer) Since 1987 Steve has designed sets and lighting for more than 170 productions of theatre, dance, performance art and opera. His work has been seen in venues throughout Canada and the United States and also in London, France, Estonia and Australia. His work has mainly been on new plays, and he has designed the world premieres of over 100 shows, many of which have gone on to further acclaim. These include: 2 Pianos 4 Hands, Never Swim Alone, See Bob Run and The Drawer Boy. Steve has won three Dora Awards and has been nominated twenty times. Steve is currently the resident designer for Theatre Passe Muraille ‘s 2001/ 2002 season.For more information visit www.stevelucasdesign.com. Sandra Marcroft (associate lighting designer) Recent lighting design credits include The Old Neighborhood (East West Theatre Company), Walking To Russia (Theatre Asylum), Christmas at the Ivanov’s (Talk is Free Theatre) and Scott Thompson’s The Lowest Show on Earth. Sandra shares two Dora Mavor Moore Awards with Steve Lucas for their co-designs Easy Lenny Lazmon and the Great Western Ascension (Moriah Productions in association with Go Chicken Go) and Boxhead (Go Chicken Go). Sandra is proud to be a member of Associated Designers of Canada. Jane Miller (breathing) Recent appearances include Muscle Memory (Theatre Viscera), Book of Thoht (wordmachine), Line and Savage in Limbo (Acme Theatre), and Shaking the Foundations (Buddies in Bad Times, 1999 Dora nomination). Jane wrote and performed Disco Goalie produced by Artword and splode, her own company, and composed an a capella score for Nightswimming’s adaptation of Michael Redhill’s book of Lake Nora Arms. A singer and composer, she has released two albums with Wind May Do Damage. Jane created an extended voice performance for the Theatre Centre’s Body Geometry: The 7th Angel, as a singing goldfish on a tightwire. She appears in Brookstone Theatre’s A Divine Comedy until May 12. John Patrick Robichaud (operator), has worked extensively as a stage manager and lighting designer for both theatre and dance, since before graduating from York University’s Visual Art program in 1997. Stage Management credits include: Building Jerusalem and Lambton Kent (Volcano), Muscle Memory and Easy (Theatre Viscera), the ecstatics and Jekyll (Les Vaches), Jump (Rat-a-Tat-Tat), This Hotel (Planet 88), Artaud and his Doubles: Prelude-Can’t, Intersection, and Remnants (DNA Theatre), bittergirl (bittergirl Co-op/ Primary Colours), Chekhov’s Shorts (Theatre Smith-Gilmour) and White Mice (MDR). Trevor Schwellnus (assistant set designer) has been building sets and tech-ing shows in Toronto and Ottawa in a variety of small houses for five years. Technical design credits include rigging for the Caravan Stage Company, an aerial dance truss for Pigeonhorse Dance, and Henry V on Ice (Vivid Theatre).Trev is now a card carrying Design Disciple of Steve Lucas´ School for the Creatively Inclined. Will Sutton (head carpenter) has been constructing scenery for a long, long time. He has been the Shop Supervisor of the Ryerson University Theatre School for quite a while and nothing short of a phone call from Spielberg or Lucas (Steve) could ever pry him away from the joy of teaching young BFAs. Every once in a while Will is given the opportunity to work on a little slice of Canadian Theatre that might just make history: Maggie and Pierre… The Drawer Boy… BREATH[e]? Someday soon Will, The Singin’ Carpenter, might record his damn CD and leave this dusty coil behind but for now his claim to infamy remains Styrofoam target maker of the NHL!
